A generation ago, who would have thunk it that a tiny little central processing unit chip would hold all of the power in your car? No, it isn't the source of power but it does regulate it. The troubles with most chips are that they are a bit wimpy. Manufacturers, in the interest in providing safe, dependable transportation [read: boring] have tuned most cars for the average driver. The chip could order your engine to kick out more horsepower, but it doesn't. All in the name of efficiency. How droll.
On the other hand, you can either replace the chip entirely or supercharge it. With the former category you would remove the chip and replace it with either an all new superchips or send out your current chip to be supercharged. Yes, you'll lose a couple of day's use of your car as you overnight the chip to the shop; they supercharge it the next day, and overnight it back to you. So, you'd likely be without the use of your car for at least three days.
With the latter category, you have a much less invasive and more convenient way to get additional power from your current chip. Instead of removing the dashboard to get to the chip, you simply hook up your Hypertech Power Programmer to the under dash diagnostic connector, answer several key questions, and within moments you have a hot rod on your hands. Okay, maybe not but your car will certainly be juiced. The one drawback with Hypertech is that there aren't as many models served yet. Another good thing is that you can change back your settings at any time. Not so with a superchip.
So, there you have it. Two smart Performance Parts that really get the job done. Easier to install than a magnaflow exhaust system and at a cheaper price too. Shop the Auto Parts Warehouse for the best selection of Hypertech tuners and superchips at affordable prices.

Thank you for visiting the ECONOMECHANIX WEB SITE. Please feel free to comment. We also serve the surrounding communities of Alachua, High Springs, Hawthorne, and Newberry! Gainesville has been my home since 1974, and I've loved Gvl and the Gators since I came here in the fall of 1974 to attend the University of Florida. I loved it so much I stayed and opened my car repair business. Originally it was out of the back of a 1963 Chevrolet wagon, but in 1977 a fellow mechanic and I opened an auto repair shop with actual walls, etc. I stayed in the same location for 26 years, and recently moved my operation to property I bought 15 miles east of Gainesville. I am doing most all the repairs myself now, having reduced my overhead from $1500 per month to practically nothing. I do work by appointment only. I mostly work only on my established customers cars, but I will occasionally take on new clients. E-mail me and I will either make arrangements to look at your car, or I will recommend you to someone who will.
